We wrapped up our study of the Regions of the United States by creating a region museum! The students were divided between 5 teachers and each became an expert on a region. Then, they created a display. We visited each other's regions, and learned a lot! We had "snow" much fun the week before Winter Break. On Tuesday, we did snowflake stations and worked on crafts, reading, and math all about snow!Wednesday was all about winter holidays. We got locked in an ice castle by Jack Frost, and had to learn about different winter holidays in order to escape! Later, we chose one of the holidays we learned about to research and make a presentation on.On Thursday, we made graham cracker "gingerbread" houses. We were given a budget and had to make decisions about what decorations we wanted to purchase to build and decorate our house. It was a lot of fun!On Tuesday we had a book tasting for a Thanksgiving Feast in our classroom. Students sampled a variety of different kind of books to help them find other books they might be interested in. And they even got a Starburst dessert after their five course "meal." :) We had a lot of fun in "Cafe Kopplin" and it was a great way to celebrate the day before Thanksgiving Break! Hello 4th Graders! I'm so excited to have you in my class this year, and can't wait to meet you all soon! Please feel free to explore our class blog to see what kinds of fun things you have to look forward to this year!
After you look around, comment on this post one thing you are looking forward to in 4th grade. See you soon! We had a lot going on in March! We worked for months to get ready for our Region museum. The 4th grade learned all about the states and regions in the United States. We invited the whole school and our parents to come learn about the four regions of the United States. Our class was responsible for the East region, and we were experts! On Wednesday March 21 we celebrated World Down Syndrome Day by wearing mismatched socks. This was a way for us to celebrate being unique! World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated on March 21 because people with Down syndrome have three copies of the 21st chromosome. Isabelle's mom came into school and taught us about Down syndrome. We learned a lot!
Today we used the app Aging Booth to see what we might look like at 100 years old! Check out your child's Seesaw page to hear them predict what they will be like as a 100 year old!
